Welcome to Forest Hills, Ada, And Cascade Real Estate!
The Forest Hills area of Grand Rapids is a scenic delight for residents and visitors with widely varied terrain, lakes and rivers, and dramatic natural beauty. Forest Hills is, in reality, only a school system - not a municipality. It is considered a neighborhood by most local residents.
As the center of the area’s cultural and educational core, Forest Hills Public Schools are consistently rated in the top one or two area systems for quality education and very high graduation ratios. Students are well trained for advanced education leading to professional careers in many fields, especially science, medicine, and education. Specialty programs include an environmental focus elementary school, Spanish emersion school, and Chinese language programs.
The neighborhood known as Forest Hills encompasses three municipalities, Ada Township, Cascade Township, and Grand Rapids Township.
Ada Township is a small and inviting village community with unique shops and businesses, located at the convergence of the Grand River and the Thornapple River. Visitors love the natural beauty, parks, and historic covered bridge. All of West Michigan has benefited from the philanthropy of the Amway founding families. Amway is headquartered in Ada Township and the families are major contributors to medical health and science facilities in Grand Rapids as well as museums, performance halls, and concert facilities. Ada Township tends to be the most rural of the three townships and includes many farms, parks, trails and recreational opportunities.
Cascade Township is located on the Thornapple River and enjoys great scenic beauty and wonderful parks. The retail center of Cascade Township includes the old village as well as the end businesses in the 28th Street shopping corridor. Cascade enjoys both a large business park and a manufacturing park and is home to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, an important business and regional hub for shipping and air transportation.
Grand Rapids Township separates the City of Grand Rapids from its eastern suburbs and has as its shopping and business core Knapps Corners and many business complexes on the East Beltline corridor. The pride of Grand Rapids Township is the internationally renowned Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, a most unique facility shared by all of West Michigan and beyond. “The Gardens” provide educational opportunities including Master Gardening courses, an outdoor amphitheatre used by international artists of many genres, and is home to original sculpture by di Suvaro, Rickey, Oldenburg and vanBruggen, Goldsworthy, Chihuly, Miro, Moore, Rodin, and many others. A visit to Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is one of the world’s most unique experiences.
